The end is nigh...but not for this book.

I always have a book on the go but during the lockdown, I have been reading a lot more books than usual. As a result of reading more, I have noticed this rather interesting habit I have formed or it may have been there all along but it is much more noticeable at the minute.
When I am very near the end of a book, whether it is one I have not been able to put down or a book that I am not particularly enamoured with (yes, I still have to read it, that is a whole other blog post!) I have found that when I am very near the end of the book, I put the book down and find anything else to do and I mean anything else. Washing, ironing, catching up on emails, doing jobs that I really don't want to do or enjoy doing and things I have been putting off for a while. I find it so frustrating, it is almost an unconscious thing and I have to force myself to go and finish the book.
So, 20-30 pages from the end, I start doing something else. It is not even a conscious thing and I may not even be at the end of a chapter. I wonder if anyone else does the same. I asked a few people and they all say that they put off doing things so that they can finish the book. Am I alone in this weirdness? I would be interested to know your thoughts.
